so im very thankful that im not handling results for the main race in
chicago this year. but i am sitting down with them when i get there on
sunday to try to add some advice. most importantly, im trying to give
them my list of mistakes that could have been avoided if only someone
had mentioned to watch out for these simple potential screw ups a week
before the race.

examples:

gender issues. they got mixed up during the registration because of a
slip of the keyboard and not double checked at packet pick up, or the
gender column wasnt downloaded with the race numbers by the results
person, or the 3rd place male gets skipped at the best dressed
competition because his name is tracy and he wore a dress so the jury
thinks he's a women and gives 3rd place best dressed male to the 4th
place guy.

fixed gears: the person deciding the fixie king/queen wants to include
the main race but no one running the main race checks to see who is
riding a fixed.

technology: the qualifying runs 2 hours long and the computer battery,
tested for 5 hours, dies at 5:01.

dont hold back. you can email me directly if you wish. dont be shy. my
list is really long, but im sure several of you have noticed things
like this and can add to it. folllowing this consolidation of notes,
memories, emails, that ive been going through the last month or so, i
will be creating a single document of mistakes that can be passed
along and added to.

see you in chicago.
