The International Federation of Bike Messenger Associations(IFBMA) is pleased to announce that Basel bike messenger Jérôme “Strom” Thiriet has been awarded the 2014 “Markus Cook Memorial Award” (MCA) for Services to the International Messenger Community. The IFBMA has awarded the Markus Cook Award (MCA) since 1998 to the person who has inspired and empowered the wider messenger community, and who puts all messengers before themselves.

Strom is a veteran Swiss messenger who is respected for his community building efforts, his event organization and his support and encouragement to messengers throughout the world.

He is one of the founding members of the Basel based MEO (Messenger Event Organization) which promotes and builds the Basel messenger community through alleycats, championships and bike polo events. Strom and MEO also work to improve the industry for Basel messengers by providing experience, guidance and encouragement to those who seek to move it forward.

Strom has been nominated many times by messengers from all over the worlds. He is the second Swiss messenger to receive the Markus Cook Award as Zurich's Luke Keller is the 2009 recipient of the award.
